Can I declare "African Time" in my defense for not posting in more than a month?
I'm not sure that would be the best defense. Honestly, the last month has been full of learning, school work, new adventures, challenges, travels, and a lot of processing.
I may have run into the case where I have so much to say that I find myself not saying anything.
So now, instead of spreading before you excuses for not writing, I'll share small bits of what I've been up to.
(I also was in school during this time... :P)
I've walked pretty much 'up river' through the rain to get to class, sheltering in a little shop with 5 men who don't think being engaged is a good excuse for not discussing and debating my marital status.
I've attended parties with my wonderful family
I've begun at my practicum site ACHERU
Successfully made good friends with the kids (and their mothers) in my neighborhood.
They now know my name and we can carry on in a small conversation in Luganda.
I've worked on my laundry skills with Jenni
and Mama
Improved on my bean cooking skills
Enjoyed all my long walks home
Attended traditional dances
Enjoyed playing games late at night with my brother. (after homework of course)
Ventured into the market and found the sketchy escape route.
Visited Rural Uganda: near Kapchorwa
Where I now have another family:
