So, here I am again, finding myself starting my blog with excuses for not writing in a long time :)

Truthfully, the internet has been down or just really bad for the last 2 months.

The causes of these internet problems have been anything from some cable being down in our neighbor country: Kenya, to someone just outside our campus deciding to dig up the side of the hill for construction and in the process knocking down trees onto power lines and ripping up/snapping the underground cables. Along with other mysterious reasons, the source of the problem more recently has been in far off Egypt, where some cord was cut. Causing, for some reason, the internet network in all of East Africa to be out... even though Egypt is in the north.

Though I may try to trick myself into the romantic idea that lack of internet in Africa shouldn't be a problem, and that instead, it should be a good challenge to be fully present here, learning to exist with out the, as it is called here, " dot com world", I am, in reality, a student in at a University with big research papers to write just like my fellow students back home in the states. And so, blogging has not been on the top of my "the internet is working!" list.

And now you may be wondering why I've spent my time writing an excuse rather than some actual thoughtful content for you to read. Well, its approaching finals week, and my deep thinking is about burned out at the moment and all being poured into papers :)

But I do appreciate that this blog is helping me stay connected, to whatever extent, to people back home. I have also been told that even just pictures are appreciated. So, as I prepare for finals this next week, I want to share with you some fun pictures of a Safari I went on  a while back:
